I guess they decided that an actual energy saving program, or more money toward alternative energy development wasn’t worth the time. Also this hurts people that already get up before the sun rises to; work outside while its cool, or drive to work early. I worked in downtown Fort Worth over the summer and started at 7:00am. I wouldn’t enjoy having to be up an hour further ahead of sunrise.

I got to experience Daylight Savings over Spring Break. I enjoyed the extra hour of daylight at night. This gives you the opportunity to stay outside longer.

I don’t quite understand why it starts so early. Everyday, before daylight savings time, I would get up for work at 7 am, and nature had just started making it where the sun was beginning to come up. I’d leave work at 6pm, and shortly after, it would begin getting dark. Now, I wake up at the same time, but it’s dark outside. I leave at night, and it’s still light for like 2 hours. That’s not right. People aren’t made to wake up when the sun’s not up.

I love being outside so i love it when it stays lighter at night! night time, after classes and work is usually my free time. I’m looking forward to being able to hang out in the back yard on a hammock and read or cook out or whatever! it’s also nice getting off work before it is pitch black outside!

I like it when the sun stays out longer. I feel that I get more things done and I am not as tired throughout the day. I also like it because when I get done with school and there is still sunlight, it gives me time to hang out outside. I am also not much of a morning person so I don’t see much of the morning sun, so I love it when the sun stays out later

I personally did not like the day light savings time switch. Having to go to work at 8am everyday, it makes it really difficult to get up when it is still dark outside. In addition, getting the day started is also increasingly difficult as I do not seem to function very well when I am trying to get going in the mornings. While I do understand the need to try to save energy, overall I think that it was something that will have minor effects.

I like the day light savings time switch. A day is never long enough to do all I need to do, so an extra hour will definitely come in handy. I am a very outdoorsy person and I love to go outside and enjoy the sun and do my workout. This will give me the opportunity to do just that more often. An hour change doesn’t hurt the people who have to get up early, because it only is an hour and it is mostly mental. So definitely two thumbs up on the day light savings!

I had a hard time adjusting to the daylight saving time switch but it helped that it was during spring break. Being on vacation during the switch helped a lot because I was able to adjust without having to get up for class in the morning. However, it was a little difficult to go to my morning classes the next week when it was still dark out. Having the extra hour of light at night is definitely nice though. It makes me feel like the day is longer and I am able to get more done and stay outside in the sun longer. Overall, getting used to daylight saving time is not easy but it has its advantages too.

I personally like the daylight savings time switch, and Igive props to Congress for their reasons behind their actions. When the time switch was made, I actually had family in town from Chicago. It was nice having that extra bit of daylight to spend with them. I agree for many it’s not pleasent waking up so early in complete darkness, but I think when it comes down to the fact of the matter is to conserve energy I think it’s worth it. Global warming has been a major part of the media lately, and I think that this extra hour will help protect our precious earth that much more.

I love Daylight Savings Time! It makes me get out of that winter rut of staying at home as soon as it gets dark mode. There is more sunlight in the evening to enjoy after school or work. It makes me feel more productive. I can go run outside later in the evenings when the weather has cooled off, instead of it being pitch black at seven o’ clock. I must say though that I do not enjoy the othertime switch in the fall. I just wish they would keep it how it is right now. I know it used to be for the farmers and now its for saving energy, but it is soo annoying to change your clocks and your sleep pattern.

I love Daylight Savings Time. I love that it is still light out at nine clock. I actually find waking up without the sun much easier. Then again, I like the fall back as well, but only becasueI like the extra hour of sleep.

  • brettb1 // April 19, 2007 at 3:49 pm |

I love the idea of leaving daylight savings after this switch. I hate when we have to fall back an hour in the fall. I think everyone should appreciate the extra hour of daylight. I know when I get into the workforce doldroms of a 9-5 job every day I am not going to want to get off at 5, spend 45 minutes in traffic on the way home, and be off of work, at home, for a meager 20 minutes of sunlight. I like the fact that in daylight savings the sun doesnt go down until 8 o’clock or so. This gives the working man a sense that when he gets off he still has a little bit of his day left to do something instead of watch tv and go to bed and do it all again tomorrow.

I don’t know why they started day light savings time earlier, but it does give us more sunlight; that’s if Lubbock weather decides not to be so bleak (like it has been lately). Not going to lie, I don’t really even like daylight savings time, it always throws you off for a few days. This just is one more advantage to living in Arizona.

My mood changes about Daylight Savings Time depending on what time of the year it is. Obviously, I really enjoy the extra hour in the fall, but in the Spring it takes me months to adjust to losing an hour. I really think it would just be better to eliminate Daylight Savings all together. Most countries (and even some places in America) don’t observe it at all. I think it’s just too much trouble to get used to. This year was particularly bad for me. I left the country on the day that the time changed during Spring Break. I went to Mexico (and changed planes three times) where they do not observe Daylight Savings. By the time I got back to America, we had had the time change in effect for a week already and I was still on the old time schedule. This meant that I had to be at the airport in Mexcio at 4 in the morning, which was obviously terrible. All in all, I think Dayling Savings should just be done away with. It would save everyone an inconvenience.

Wow, I never thought about daylight savings as a way to save our country money. When you think about it though, it makes complete sense. Waking up right after or around the time the sun rises and going to sleep not to long after the sun sets, would conserve energy. What simple but amazing thoughts people and our government can have. I’m impressed and think it’s great. On March 11th, I actually got proposed to in Las Vegas by complete surprise. It was a fairytale day and that evening we had extra time during the daylight to spend together watching the Bellagio fountains and drinking champagne because of the new daylight savings time adjustment. So this idea was definitely on my side that day. I have to say that I am in complete support of extending daylight savings time.

I like daylight savings time, I am usually more productive and it makes me feel like I have more hours in the day when in reality I don’t I just have more hours of daylight. The only real thing that bothers me about it is that it’s dark at 6:30am when I get up. It’s hard to get up when it’s still dark, but the fact that it’s light until 9pm gives me more energy late into the day.

  • wilsonh1 // April 20, 2007 at 12:33 pm |

I do like more daylight in the evenings so I can get more work done. It is very hard for me to comprehend how one person deciding to change the date of something we made up that will push back an imaginary time will have such a great effect on everyone and on energy consumption. Nothing really changes but so much is changed.

  • treyk1 // April 20, 2007 at 4:06 pm |

I hate having the extra hour of daylight at night. I’d much rather have it get brighter earlier so it could help wake me up. I always lose track of time in the spring because I think “Oh it’s still light outside, there’s no need to start on my homework now, ” When in reality it’s 8:00 P.M. and I only have a few hours before I need to be in bed so I can wake up for my 8:00 A.M. class.

  • patrickm2 // April 20, 2007 at 9:08 pm |

I will spend that extra hour of daylight playing basketball outside in the sun. I will probably over the next couple month have to finally get that full time job and the extra hour of sunlight will make it easier for me to keep in shape.

  • kerrig2 // April 20, 2007 at 10:23 pm |

I love having an extra hour of daylight in the evening. My typical day starts with work from 7-1, then class from 2-5, then meetings or gymnastics practice after that. It’s nice to finish all of that and still have some time in the daylight rather than finishing and feeling like it’s already midnight. I could really use 20 out of 24 hours in daylight…

  • kathleent1 // April 20, 2007 at 10:51 pm |

Even though I don’t understand why congress did that, in a way I am glad. To me, when the days are longer it makes me feel like I can get more accomplished in a day. Which means that I have more time to run errands or just be outside with friends. Summer is the best time of the year and it should be spent outside enjoying the daylight. It seems like most people have this mind set which is great.
