Grade Range

Because we did not write the Notre Dame essay, the total points went from 1000 to 975 points. The new grade range reflects the change in total points:

Sixth Exam

The following students should take the sixth exam in order to improve their grade by one letter.

Points that include online quizzes for chapter 4, 6, and 7, case 4, blogging, and bonus (technology survey, Apple, course questionnaire) are available. Please click on Section 1 Grades or Section 2 Grades. If you have a question about your points, please e-mail (michael.levin at ttu.edu).

Fourth Case

We will write our fourth case of the Spring 2007 semester on Wednesday. For those of you in the first section, please read Case 2-7: Mosquito Magnet (p. 274-275). You may want to look at the Mosquito Magnet website before coming to class. For those of you in the second section, please read Case 2-6: Dixon Ticonderoga’s Prang Soybean Crayon (p. 273-274). You may want to look at the Prang website or perform a Google search before coming to class.

Bonus Points Available

Several bonus assignments are available.

• The second portion of the technology survey has been sent to your e-mail account if you completed the first portion. This assignment is worth 10 points. The survey closes at 6 p.m., TUESDAY, April 24.
• A 5-point survey on Apple is available by clicking here. It is open from 8 a.m. on Monday, April 23, and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 27.
• A 5-point course questionaire is available by clicking here. The questionaire must be returned by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 27.

To help you decide if you want to study for the opitional exam on May 6, I will post all your points by Sunday, April 29.

Changed Calendar

Both guest speakers withdrew, which resulted in alterations to the course calendar.

Changes to the course schedule have been posted to the calendar. Chapter 7 quiz will open on Sunday at the regular times.

The total points for the course will be out of 975 points instead of a thousand as indicated on the syllabus.

Value of Blogs

If the 45% of NYU students represent the Millennial cohort (see Bite Size Media), then what does it say for blogs? A quick scan through Forbes’ best blogs as well as the Best Blogs You Are Not Reading reveal a lack of corporate run blogs. However, 8% of the companies that appear on the Fortune 500 maintain a blog. The run down includes the obvious like Google and Microsoft and the not so obvious like Boeing and General Motors.

Variable Pricing Goes to College

Major League Baseball teams charge different prices based on seat locations, but also based on opponents. Movie theaters charge different prices for tickets depending on age (people over 65 and under 7 pay less amounts, educational status (students pay less), and time of day (a matinee showing cost less). Broadway and off-Broadway theaters rely on variable pricing, a concept not limited to entertainment. Hotels, airlines, and stylists represents other service-oriented markets that use variable pricing. Now, another service is moving towards variable pricing: U.S. universities .

Wine Rack Goes Vroom

When your Jag has run its last trip to the grocery store, you do not need to throw the car in the landfill. An enterprising (and former?) Jag owner converted his V12 engine to a wine rack.

No need to worry about disposing of the remainder of the car.
